Outline
Chemistry is designed for 13–15-year-olds who are curious about the substances that make up our world and how they interact. Students will explore key topics across physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry—such as rates of reaction, states of matter, surface tension, fossil fuels, crystals, and the periodic table. They’ll develop their analytical skills and apply theory to real-world situations through hands-on experiments and problem-solving. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, making each learning experience dynamic, relevant, and engaging. The course also includes a masterclass on teamwork and collaboration, along with a reflection session to help students track their goals and progress.
Teaching methodology
Learning in a small group (no more than 8 students and often fewer) means that you get quality time with your teacher and ask as many questions as you like! Through interactive learning, our teachers will guide you through new concepts and assign you practice tasks to build your knowledge and skills. You will also have an opportunity for group work, independent research, and homework assignments to be discussed in class. Small classes mean everyone gets to have their say, and students learn from debating with one another, as well as from their tutor.

The course is structured over two weeks, exploring fundamental chemistry concepts through a mix of theory, practical exercises, and real-life applications.
Week 1: Chemistry in Nature and the Environment (Example)

- Biological chemicals and the human body.
Week 2: Chemistry in the Modern World (Example)
- Metals and the periodic table.
- Batteries and electricity.

By the end of the course, students may:

For students aged 13-15, ǶƵ takes safeguarding seriously. All staff are DBS-checked and trained in safeguarding policies. We offer 24/7 on-site security, with supervision and curfews to maintain a safe environment. On our Chemistry course for ages 13–15, your child will dive into the building blocks of matter, from atomic structure and bonding to reactions, energy changes, and the periodic table. They'll investigate how chemistry connects to the real world — in medicine, the environment, technology, and beyond. With no fixed curriculum, students are encouraged to share their interests when they apply, and our expert tutors will tailor the content to match those passions wherever possible.
With no more than 8 students per class (and often fewer), learners get individual attention and space to ask questions, work through ideas, and collaborate with peers. Sessions are interactive and discussion-based, combining tutor input with group tasks, problem-solving, and independent research. Directed study sessions give students time to reflect on what they’ve learned and complete assignments, with support available from on-course staff.

While they study Chemistry this summer as part of our 13–15s programme, your child will stay at one of the Oxford colleges where we host our courses. With shared living spaces, on-course staff to support them, and a welcoming academic environment, it’s the ideal setting to study science in one of the world’s most prestigious university cities.

For students attending the Oxford 13-15 course, accommodation is based on the selected tier. In the Classic Tier, students will stay in a single or twin room, with final room assignment confirmed by us at a later date. In the Plus Tier, students can select their preferred single or twin room. The Superior Tier guarantees an ensuite room, providing additional comfort and privacy. For the Premier Tier, our concierge service will help select the best available accommodation based on the student’s preferences.
Meals are provided on a full-board basis, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Meals are served at the accommodation or at local restaurants, ensuring a variety of dining options.
