The History summer school at ǶƵ, hosted at Cambridge colleges, is designed for 13-15-year-old students and is priced from £6,495. The first course begins on 29 June 2025, with limited places available across June, July, and August. Each course has only 8 places available, and they are filling up quickly. Outline
History is designed for 13–15-year-olds who want to explore key moments in history and understand how the past shapes the present. Students will learn how to interpret historical sources, conduct research, and draw conclusions based on evidence. They’ll study a range of periods and figures, from Ancient Greece to the Renaissance to World War I, developing critical thinking and analytical skills along the way. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, making learning engaging and relevant. The course also includes a masterclass on teamwork and debating, along with a reflection session to help students track their goals and progress.
Teaching methodology
Learning in a small group (no more than 8 students and often fewer) means that you get quality time with your teacher and ask as many questions as you like! Through interactive learning, our teachers will guide you through new concepts and assign you practice tasks to build your knowledge and skills. You will also have an opportunity for group work, independent research, and homework assignments to be discussed in class. Small classes mean everyone gets to have their say, and students learn from debating with one another, as well as from their tutor.

The course is structured over two weeks, focusing on the examination of human culture through historical events and their impact on societies.
Week 1: Historical Events and Societal Changes (Example)
- An introduction to significant historical events: What makes an event significant, and why study them?
- The role of women in ancient Greece, examining both myth and societal norms.
- How historical events shaped societies and cultures.
Week 2: Global Perspectives on History (Example)
- Case studies of historical events from Greece to China and England to Japan.
- How societies respond to historical challenges and changes.
- Group discussions and debates on the meaning and impact of these historical events and societal changes.

Students are encouraged to do pre-course preparation to maximise their learning. Suggested resources include:

This history course provides an excellent foundation for students interested in the humanities. It helps develop analytical skills, critical thinking, and an appreciation for historical studies, preparing students for further exploration in subjects such as history, archaeology, and anthropology. For students aged 13-15, ǶƵ takes safeguarding seriously. All staff are DBS-checked and trained in safeguarding policies. We offer 24/7 on-site security, with supervision and curfews to maintain a safe environment. Our safeguarding policies are designed to balance growing independence with necessary safety measures, ensuring students feel supported.

Get ready to explore the past and understand the forces that have shaped our world. On our History course for ages 13–15, your child will delve into key historical events, figures, and movements — from ancient civilisations to modern history. They’ll examine how history has influenced societies, politics, and culture, and develop the critical thinking skills to analyse sources and form their own interpretations. With no fixed curriculum, students are encouraged to share their interests when they apply, and our expert tutors will tailor the course content to reflect those passions wherever possible.
With no more than 8 students per class (and often fewer), your child will enjoy personalised support and plenty of opportunities to ask questions, share ideas, and engage in debates. Lessons combine tutor-led exploration with group discussions, source analysis, and independent research. Dedicated study sessions give students time to reflect on what they’ve learned, complete assignments, and explore topics further with guidance from on-course staff.
Beyond the classroom, they’ll take part in a full summer school experience — including social events, excursions, and a final graduation ceremony and celebratory disco. It’s a summer of historical discovery, intellectual growth, and new friendships.

For students attending the Cambridge 13-15 course, accommodation is based on the selected tier. In the Classic Tier, students will stay in a single or twin room, with final room assignment confirmed by us at a later date. In the Plus Tier, students can select their preferred single or twin room.
Meals are provided on a full-board basis, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Meals are served at the accommodation or at local restaurants, providing a variety of options for students.
