The first course begins on 29 June 2025, with limited places available across June, July, and August. Each course has only 8 places available, and they are filling up quickly. Outline
International Relations is designed for 16–17-year-olds who want to understand global politics and the forces shaping the world. Students will explore topics such as nationalism, diplomacy, and the causes of conflict. They’ll examine global issues like preventing war, the nature of states’ actions, and analyze specific conflicts to gain a broader view of international relations. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, making learning engaging and relevant. The course includes tutorial Q&A sessions, an academic skills masterclass, expert speakers, and visits to different Oxford colleges. Students will also have the opportunity to attend a university fair to explore future career pathways.
Teaching methodology
Learn the Oxford way with tutorial-style teaching. Your expert tutor will foster self-directed learning and critical thinking through interactive seminars in small groups (no bigger than 8). During your course, you will complete two pieces of independent work (essays or problem sheets), which your tutor will then evaluate in either a 1:1 or 2:1 tutorial. Tutorials will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your work and feedback with your tutor and learn new perspectives from your classmates. On completion of the course, you'll receive a certificate and letter of recommendation from your tutor.

The course is typically structured over two weeks, with each week focusing on different aspects of international relations.
Week 1: Theoretical Perspectives & the Global Order (Example)
- Realism and neorealism.
- Liberalism and institutionalism.
- Constructivism.
- The balance of power, collective security, and causes of WWI & WWII.
Week 2: Human Rights & Contemporary Issues (Example)
- Human rights and norm formation.
- Humanitarian intervention.
- Terrorism.
- Transnational issues: the environment and global health.

By the end of the course, students may:
- Develop a strong understanding of major theories in international relations, including realism, liberalism, and constructivism.
- Explore case studies on global conflicts, human rights, and transnational issues.
- Build skills in critical thinking, argument formulation, and essay writing.
- Understand the balance of power and its role in major world conflicts like WWI, WWII, and contemporary issues.

For students attending the Oxford 16-17 course, accommodation is based on the selected tier. In the Classic Tier, students will stay in a single or twin room, with final room assignment confirmed by us at a later date. In the Plus Tier, students can select their preferred single or twin room. The Superior Tier guarantees an ensuite room for added comfort. For the Premier Tier, our concierge service will help select the best available accommodation based on the student’s preferences.
Meals are provided on a half-board basis, including breakfast and dinner. Meals are served at the accommodation or at local restaurants, offering a variety of dining options.
